LAVONNE SOPHIA CONSTANS

LaVonne was born on May 30, 1940, in Hutchinson to parents Fred Henke and Sophie Dostal Henke. She was raised on her family farm, along with her brothers and sisters: Alvin, Harvey, David, Jerry, Roger, Eve and Carol. She was the first girl born to the family after four boys. After high school, LaVonne moved to the Twin Cities and attended beauty school. In 1979, Lavonne and her husband Brent Constans moved to Rocky Mount, N.C., along with their daughters, Kim and Kathy. In March of 2022, she moved into The Foley Center in Blowing Rock, N.C. LaVonne enjoyed growing flowers, tending to house plants, painting, fishing, spending time with her beloved grandson Gregory, volunteering for hospice, traveling, collecting shells on the beach and collecting special rocks. LaVonne was dedicated to agriculture, enjoying a long career working for an agricultural supply company. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Fred and Sophie Henke, and her brother Roger. LaVonne is survived by her grandson Gregory Lamm and fiancé’ Jessica Mugford of Florida, daughter Kim Constans and her significant other Denver Plude of Vilas, N.C., and her daughter Kathy Lamm and significant other Chris Jacobs of Rock Hill, S.C.

Robert “Bob” R. Rolander, 84, of Hutchinson passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Funeral Service was Wednesday, May 29, 2024, 12 p.m. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. Rolander was born on August 10, 1939, in Hutchinson. He was the son of Lydon “Al” and Lida (Heller) Rolander. Bob was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Vineyard United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School class of 1957. Bob entered active military service in the United States Army on May 16, 1963, and served his country during the Vietnam War but was stationed in Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 6, 1965, at Fort Hamilton, N.Y. and achieved the rank of Private First Class. Bob was employed at 3M for 31 years and 9 months until retiring on January 1, 1999. He was a charter member of the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad and Past Commander of the VFW Post 906 and American Legion Post 96. Bob was also a member of Cedar Mills Rod and Gun Club, Gopher Campfire Club, Seam Squirrel of the Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) and a member of National Past Chef de Gare Club of 40 & 8. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed finding wildflowers, plants, and watching birds at the cottage by Belle Lake. He also enjoyed long motorcycle rides on his blue Harley and exploring many snowmobile trails with his Ski-Doo. Bob’s most recognized hobby was presenting his large military collection at shows every years with friends. He won several awards for his special displays. Evelyn L. Hellwig, 95, of Silver Lake, formerly of rural Darwin, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Cedar Crest Estate Senior Living in Silver Lake. Funeral Service was held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Darwin with interment in the Ellsworth Cemetery in Ellsworth Township, rural Darwin. She was the daughter of Alfred and Lydia (Prieve) Tews. Evelyn was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education at Immanuel Parochial School in Acoma Township and was a graduate of Hutchinson High School class of 1946. On April 19, 1953, Evelyn was united in marriage to Carl Hellwig at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township. This marriage was blessed with two children, Bruce and Kathy. Evelyn and Carl resided in Ellsworth Township, to rural Darwin. They shared 52 years of marriage prior to the passing of Carl on January 13, 2006. Evelyn was employed in Quality Assurance with 3M in Hutchinson for 30 plus years. She was also the bookkeeper for 13 years with Bretzke Implement in Hutchinson. Evelyn retired on July 1, 1991. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ellsworth Township. She was also a member of the Ellsworth Township Board. Evelyn enjoyed quilting, teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Evelyn passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Cedar Crest Estate Senior Living in Silver Lake at the age of 95 years. Blessed be her memory. Jeannie Lynn Larson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated quilter, passed away peacefully at the age of 73, surrounded by family and friends on April 15, 2024. Born June 14, 1950, Jeannie was the cherished wife of Larry Larson with whom she shared over 20 years of love and laughter. Together, they built a strong foundation of family and love, creating a home filled with warmth and kindness. She was an adoring mother to her sons, Jon (Nicole) Lovald and Ryan Lovald, guiding them with love and wisdom as they navigated life’s journey.
